Black Hole First Picture: The Premiere

Mirage3D was proud to present the premiere of its latest fulldome film Black Hole First Picture on February 1st, 2023 at Omniversum fulldome theater in The Hague, The Netherlands. This 8K film was preceded by a presentation by Joanna Holt from NOVA. She provided a fascinating journey through space to show more context for the film. Following that, world famous astronomer Heino Falcke spoke about the project that inspired the film and the people who made the First Image of a Black Hole possible. Robin Sip, the Director, then spoke about the film project and some of its success and challenges. The film was then enjoyed in its entirety by over 250 people; the audience included the local community, the friends and family of the film’s developers. The premiere was attended by Namibia’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr Mekondjo Kaapanda-Girnus; the Honorary Consul of Republic of Namibia in the Netherlands, Cornélie van Waegeningh; and also the Director-General of Higher Education, Vocational Education, Science and Emancipation at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Feite Hofman.  Thank you to everyone who attended!
